^[a] ⁵Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them, for they were struck down in the desert.^[b]

⁶Now these things happened as examples for us, so we wouldn’t crave evil things, just as they did. ^[c] ⁷Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”
